From 8 to 26 February 2021, guests can have the best of both worlds at Tablescape. In deference to the Lunar New Year traditions, modern European restaurant Tablescape offers the quintessential yu sheng in two variants as well as a special Lunar New Year edition of their popular Afternoon Tea Set.
YU SHENG
First introduced last year and brought back by popular request from regular corporate clients, Tablescape offers a Foie Gras Yu Sheng Platter (from $88++) that adds a luxe, modern European touch to the classic.
Featuring housemade foie gras terrine accompanied by crispy fish skin and yuzu peel, it comes with daikon, cucumber, pickled red yams, wakame, pomelo, ginger, carrots, roasted sunflower seeds and golden crackers.
The sauces comprise apple, passionfruit, plum and sesame, motifs of wealth, peace and harmony that bring a sweet-sour complexity to the platter.
Sumptuous yet elegant, the Foie Gras Yu Sheng Platter is rich in flavour and symbolism for a seamlessly auspicious start to the year.
Purists will enjoy the Prosperity Yu Sheng Platter (from $88++), a colourful classic that features generous slices of abalone, smoked Norwegian salmon and crispy fish skin, with pickled red and green yam, pomelo, ginger, carrots, roasted peanuts and golden crackers.
AFTERNOON TEA
Diners who prefer a more mellow indulgence will be charmed by the Lunar New Year edition of the set.
Inspired by the exquisite expressions of New Year joy in Chinese culture, Tablescape’s Afternoon Tea Set (from $58++) is thoughtfully tweaked to include key flavours and colours of the Lunar New Year.
Rich flavours and bright colours thread through the festive-exclusive set including a sweet pink Cherry Cheesecake Mousse, and a luscious red Tomato Brioche. A Mandarin Orange Compote brightens up a buttery sable Breton on which is perched a generous cut of foie gras, while the sweets platter includes a zesty Mandarin Almond Cake in a soft gold colour.
They join popular bites such as the Raspberry Eclairs, the Beetroot Cup and the Egg Mayo with Black Truffle tart as well as a selection of their popular breads and scones served with a selection of hand-churned butters.
